Career:
My career has been dedicated to helping people of all ages with Developmental Disabilities.
For seven years, I worked at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center with adults before moving into the field of Early Intervention Services, working with young children at risk because of developmental issues, and with their families.
From 1981 through 19971 was a Program Director and Department Head with two major hospitals in Greater Boston.
During this lime, I served as the President of the statewide group of service providers, and I worked with the Massachusetts Legislature to draft legislation that became part of a national model for Early Intervention Services.
Since then I have been a management consultant to several agencies and worked as a Supervisor for LIFE, Inc. in Mashpee.
Throughout my career, I worked both as a member of teams and later as a developer and leader of teams. I am a strong believer in the power of teams to tackle and resolve formidable problems.
Public Service:
I was appointed to the Acton Housing Authority in 1984 to fill a vacancy and later elected to the Authority for a full term.
In Barnstable, I have served on the Disabilities Commission and was the representative to the Youth Commission and the Human Condition Committee.
I also served on the Committee Of 100 studying town fiscal issues.
l am currently a member of the board of directors of the Marstons Mills Village Association where I served as secretary for five years.
I was a key player on the team seeking the reopening of the Marstons Mills Fire Station, supporting the new station to protect us now and in the future, and I helped work for a better Marketplace for our community.
I continue to believe in the benefits of team-work to seek ways to enhance the MMVA, and to support the efforts for a new Library.
Cape Cod Connections:
My parents lived on Cape Cod for more than 30 years.
I had the privilege of moving to Marstons Mills permanently seven years ago.
Education:
I have a BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
