Public Comment
Craig Crocker of the Water Department gave a presentation on water quality, well capacity, and the impact of proposed development on the town water supply. Water quality remains good.
The need for a couple of new wells is anticipated in the coming decades, and the Water Department plans to meet this need by drilling new wells within existing well fields. Both Mr. Crocker and Board members voiced concerns regarding increasing nitrate loads to adjacent well fields if a proposed high-density affordable housing project near Nye Road is pursued.
Mr. Crocker was invited back to discuss these topics further at future MMVA meetings, and to participate in River Days. The MMVA volunteered to publicize the upcoming Warrant Meeting of the Water Department in May .
Richard Wheeler, President of the Indian Ponds Association, was welcomed. He discussed his neighborhood association and its civic goals and achievements. He was asked to publicize role of the MMVA as an ombudsman to his members, and there was consensus to work to further ties between the associations.
Council Report
A pamphlet regarding emails, telephone numbers, committee assignments, and recent votes of the counselors was handed out.

Ann Trout was introduced and voted into the board of directors and into the office of Secretary.
Donna Lawson was authorized to purchase the Marstons Mills Village signs.
The Village Days subcommittee will meet on January 14, 2004 at 7 PM at Debbie Lavoie's house.
The River Days subcommittee will meet on January 9, 2004 at 9 AM.
The membership drive was discussed. Janice Barton proposed a sign up form, and various fee schedules were discussed. Janice volunteered to work with Leah Curtis on finalizing the form and fees.
New Business
Maureen McPhee requested a letter of support from the MMVA for a matching grant for the town library. The motion was passed, and Robert Trout volunteered to compose one for the Board.
Al Baker suggested reforming the Burgess House Subcommittee to monitor maintenance needs and/or take responsibility for event planning at the site. Opinion was split whether this was needed. Further decision was deferred until the next meeting.
