Public Comment
Marlene Weir, Chair of the Local Comprehensive Plan (LCP) Review outlined the purpose of the LCP. The LCP articulates the land and water use goals of the township. She discussed its place in the hierarchy of regional planning documents.
The original Plan took 7 years to develop, and it is now 2 years overdue to be revised. Ms. Weir hopes to develop a more succinct, user-friendly update, with indexing.
The town is seeking the input of the villages and will provide a professional planner to assist the village committee with formatting the presentation. The Town Planning Board would like our input by June, and hopes to complete the revision in less than 2 years. Priorities for development and preservation were discussed. The town is looking for ways to concentrate development into Growth Zones. The transfer (trading) of development rights was explained and discussed.
The formation of a MMVA LCP subcommittee was discussed by the board of directors of the MMVA, and the following people signed on: Janice Barton, Leah Curtis, Linda Edson, Beth Ferranti, Bob Frazee, Craig Larson, and William MacIntyre. The subcommittee will meet in an open format, with meeting time and location to be announced.
