His group, the Indian Ponds Association, would like the land to be more on the conservation side of this. The assistance of the MMVA is sought in interacting with the Open Space Committee of the town.
Council Report
Janice Barton & Leah Curtis:
Discussed an effort under way to authorize taking land by eminent domain in Hyannis in order to facilitate renewal of depressed areas of the town. Lively discussion ensued. Several people expressed concern regarding this setting a worrisome precedent of the town taking land for subsequent private rather than public development. Bob Frazee and others voiced concern that there would be the potential for abuse of this power in the future.
Other topics discussed included the proposed acquisition of land in West Barnstable for open space.
The ongoing efforts to develop affordable and work force housing continues.
 Budget discussions continue.
The Walk to the Sea opening ceremony was announced for July 15th at 4 pm.
The open space vote on the two parcels of land near the Marstons Mills mill pond will be at 6.
The eminent domain issue will be discussed at 7 pm at the Town Meeting.

Subcommittee Reports:
Burgess House: Home Depot is not coming through with supplies for repairing the barn. A yard sale was proposed. Also, it was suggested and voted to ask the Home Builders Association if they might contribute.

Village Day: Al Baker announced Liberty Hall would consider contributing to allow the cost of the pony rides to be decreased to $1 and a general call was made for people to sponsor tables at the event. The disc jockey has not yet been decided on. It is anticipated that plaques and t-shirts for the road race will run $350 and $800 respectively and a total of $1500 is pre-approved for expenses.
Membership And Newsletter: Progressing toward the next edition of the newsletter. Looking for sponsors at $600 each. Bill McIntyre volunteered his sponsorship. It was gratefully accepted. It was proposed to make these minutes available solely through the email link to the Marstons Mills website: www.marstonsmills.org and public postings rather than as a printed mailing.
