Subcommittee Reports
Burgess House: Discussed that would be nice to have more meetings at the house. The rooms are small and this limits the type of meetings that could be hosted there. Plans for spraying the poison ivy are going forward. There are hopes to get rid of the stuff in the barn once we get transportation and Al is not there to mourn the loss of the junk.
River Day: No news.
Village Day: Congratulations on a good Village Day. Numbers were down but this was it was felt this was partially due to the poor weather, and the profit was similar to last year as costs were also down.
Donna notes it would be good to hang a banner taking credit for our sponsorship of Village Day.
Liberty Hall noted that they would like an ad in the Villager next year to advertise Village Day and the chicken dinner they sponsor.
Mrs. Jones complained that her driveway was blocked during the festivities.
Unfortunately the hosts of the pony rides were not informed they were not coming this year and they prepared for the ponies.
Ann Trout would like her table in a quieter place next year.
Singer was great though, and people seemed generally to be having fun and friendly.
There was a question from Liberty Hall whether we should move Village Day to August to get more people. After some discussion, it was felt that a lot of other villages have there days in August, and that the local people we are usually seeing will come in either month.
However, there is a trend downward for the numbers of people coming which may or may not be due to the weather, and adding a band performance or other live group for adults in the later afternoon was suggested.
Membership: No news.
Newsletter: No news.
Scholarship: See above under correspondence.
Local Comprehensive Plan: There is a report online. These involved in the LCP committee were encouraged to review it for changes. Ruth Weil will be coming to discuss the LCP with us.
Herring Run: No news.
Library: Discussion of possible renovation possibilities. Craig suggests making a split-level affair.
Indian ponds Report: Mrs. Anderson discussed the cleaning of the beaches this summer and plans to enlarge the Hamblin Pond beach. This was debated as to whether the manpower is available to continue to keep this area up. She would also like to add trash containers to other beaches, and also improve the parking on the Mystic Lake beach on Race Lane. Peter Lavigne has told her that the beach cleanup could be done as an Eagle Scout project.
New Business
 None.
