Treasurer's Report
 Was accepted.
Public Comment
Robert Swanson: Discussed that everything is basically in place for the Road Race. Only 10 people have pre-registered but he is hopeful for a lot of last minute registrants. He has sufficient volunteers. Water cups and trash and police are all arranged. There are 4 sponsors plus Stop and Shop. The runners will be using the sidewalk. Vince Smith is going to be manning the timer as well as various volunteers. The church is going to have a bake sale and kid’s games.
Town Council Report
Jan Barton: The Council has been busy. They voted to restrict personal watercraft from the ramp at Lake Wequaquet. A vote passed to make the Affordable Housing Overlay District comply with the existing Village LCP’s. They are looking at use restrictions for the Danforth land. A meeting to discuss the Post Office area and Duguay lands will be coming up soon. Bob Frazee asked if the minutes of the Zoning Committee’s meeting would be online – no is the answer.
Old Business And Announcements
David Curtis did the tax returns. The charge is a $100 to make us less delinquent.
Invited Speaker/Public Forum
 None.
Subcommittee Reports
Burgess House: Bob Frazee queried if anyone knew of someone with skills to shore up the roof of the barn. He proposes a couple of work parties this fall. David Anthony has yet to get back to him. Congratulations to Bob Frazee for trimming the hedge and vines. Hoping to work on the poison ivy before the cold weather makes it too late. Possible sources of workers for the barn and the yard may be using the Americorps or making this an Eagle scout project.
River Day: No news.
Village Day: Sept 10th. Volunteers there at 10, race starts at 11 AM. Basically everyone is lined up that was there last year. There will be strawberry shortcakes instead of ice cream. Neither Al Baker nor Linda Edson will be able to attend. Various volunteer assignments made. Have a singer for the National Anthem. Will have the Zip Code Quilt on display. They do not want to sell t-shirts this year.
Membership: No news.
Newsletter: Thanks to everyone for getting the newsletter out. Jan can no longer run the newsletter – she has run out of time. Will need to try to find a new editor before next River Day’s edition. Many thanks to Jan for her excellent job. Help wanted poster or maybe Senior Corps for volunteers?
Scholarship: Thanks ST Engineering for a donation of $400.
Local Comprehensive Plan: No news.
Herring Run: Considering some changes in the future, nothing ongoing at present.
Library: Finances are slowly improving.
Indian ponds Report: They are accumulating a list of priorities for the town to consider. Ongoing issue of various invasive plants. The south end of Hamblin Pond is a particular concern. They are trying to convince the town to reclaim land in the South Beach area, which has become quite overgrown. They request the assistance of Janice Barton.
New Business
Donna Lawson announced that Liberty Hall is looking to start up the public breakfasts again. They are looking for cosponsors. There was general agreement this would make a good partnership for MMVA, and we should look into it. They will be scheduled on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
It was suggested that we consider getting some tables and chairs. These could be for our use and also loaned out. After discussion, it was felt that they may not be worth the trouble to store and retrieve from loanees. For now will rent them as needed.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned.
