Volunteers Needed ! !
The Marstons Mills River Committee is organizing a cleanup of the Marstons Mills River on an on-going basis.

This river is a precious resource in the community and we need everyone's help to preserve and protect it. Come on out and give us a hand!

What We Will Be Doing
Working in small groups, we'll meet at a time convenient to all and work on various sections of the river from the Mill Pond up through to the Cranberry Bogs off Rosa Lane.

The work will entail removing things from the river that impede its flow and might block the migration of Herring. This is mostly small trees, branches and other debris that has either fallen or washed into the river.

Much of this is light work with no heavy lifting required so people of all ages can pitch in. Some members of the crew will be using equipment for the larger trees, etc.

The river ranges from 6 to 10 feet in width and 1 to 2 feet in depth and the current is weak to moderate.

See some pictures of what needs to be done here [these show some of the worse sections, not all is as bad as this].

What To Wear / Bring
You should wear hip-boots or waders and gloves and if it isn't too warm, a long sleeve top. If you have loppers or hand pruners, please bring them along.

Can't Do It Now But You Could Help In The Future?
We'll be doing this these smaller groups on a on-going basis and occasionally organize larger groups for bigger tasks. If you'd like, we can contact you when we need some help. Just go here and we'll add you to a list of people to be notified when a group is being organized.

We won't share this information with anyone [see our Privacy Statement here].
