Past Happenings
Eight people participated in the Marstons Mills River cleanup on June 23rd. Four Liberty Hall Club members (Charlie Thifault, Al Baker, Kevin Galvin and an anonymous worker) along with Donna Larson, Carolyn Garbutt, Jane Zulkywicz, and Keith Williams from the DNR.
The Chicken Barbecue on June 30th was a success with close to 100 dinners being sold. Chef Ron Beals thanks the many members who helped out at this function.
The club acknowledges the donation of American Flags for our newly erected flagpole from; Steve Orlando, The Village Association and Joe Besso in honor of his brother Henry who was a highly decorated WWII veteran of the European Theater. We will rotate these flags on a regular basis.
Needed-Needed-Needed
The Club is looking for a few old picture frames in various sizes. If you have any you wish to dispose of, please call Al Baker @ 428-2433 and he will pick them up at your request.
We are looking for teams of workers to help maintain our facility in the areas of siding, painting and general maintenance. If you wish to participate please call Al Baker.
We also need teams of 2 to 4 people to clean specific areas of the Marstons Mills River during July, August and September at their convenience. This would include the areas from Middle Pond and the Bogs to the Route 28 Mill Pond area. Call Al Baker or Charlie Thifault if you would like to help out.
Miscellany
Thanks to Bob McClusky for the professional landscaping job around the club grounds.
Ed Thew has donated a shed for our equipment. Thanks Ed.
We welcome our newest member, Jason Childs. Welcome and we hope to see you at the meetings.
New In The Mills
The newly opened ARTISANS' STUDIO located next to the Mills Restaurant is offering classes in Drawing, Painting, and Ceramics for children and adults.
The Summer Session features several exciting classes for youngsters 6 through 12, as well as classes for teens and adults. They will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with several different media, i.e., clay, charcoal, pastel, water color, acrylic, etc.
Classes are taught by Maureen Carven, artist and art educator who is currently the Fine Arts Chair at a private secondary school outside of Boston.
She has many years of art teaching experience at all levels. Having studied and taught art in countries throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia, she creates a classroom atmosphere that is highly creative, dynamic and unusual.
