Town Council Report
Janice Barton: January started the term of the new president, Janet Joakim, and vice-president, Gary Brown. The committee memberships and times of several meetings are changing. They are working on a consensus document for land usage in the Danforth Property. Craig Larson asked if Janice could inquire regarding the new fence around the Transfer Station. He objects to the appearance of the razor wire and chain-link combination.
Old Business And Announcements
Friends Meeting: Going well on Sundays. They would like to keep the temp at 65 degrees chronically so it is warm enough when they turn it up for the meeting. After discussion, it was felt that this would really cost a lot. We will counter offer with letting them install a timed thermostat and let it automatically raise the temperature the evening before. After further discussion of the question of moving the table out of the meeting room, it was felt that likely this would be practical, and we will discuss this further with the meeting members. They will be paying us $1000 and, after discussion, this will be placed in the general fund. This prompted a further discussion of the subcategories of the treasurer’s report, and it was decided to nix the daffodil and the sign subcategories and fold their remaining funds into the general funds.
Seth Duguay: Notes the zoning meeting for his business has yet to occur. Nor has the LCP Committee gotten to Marstons Mills.
Invited Speaker/Public Forum
 None.
Subcommittee Reports
Burgess House: Further discussion of the potential for the house getting a formal lease to MMVA from the town. Linda Edson pointed out that the MMVA has a letter from Mr. Klimm granting us the use of the house in perpetuity. Discussion ensued, and the gist is that if we want to apply for monies to help with upkeep, it would be helpful to have a more formal document. Linda will locate a copy of the original letter too.
River Day: May 20, 2007. Will be looking for volunteers soon.
Village Day: September 9, 2007. David Curtis notes that Liberty Hall may plan to no longer sell chicken barbeque at the event. General consensus that this would be a shame, and will follow up and see if this is a definite thing at this point.
Membership: One new member.
Newsletter: Hoping to get an issue out by April and still looking for an editor.
Scholarship: Two scholarships of $750 are to be given this year. The forms are turned in to the High School. Donna brings the passing of Frank “Buddy” Simmons to the meeting’s attention. After discussion it was voted and passed to dedicate this year’s scholarships to his memory.
Local Comprehensive Plan: Hoping to get to our town in the revisions soon. No significant changes anticipated.
Herring Run: No news.
Library: Working on the financial plan with the goal to try to get the money up front before spending it.
Indian ponds Report: Working with Mr. Klimm for potential cleanups at Mystic Lake and Mill Pond and brush (gray willow) clearing on several shores.
New Business
Noting the passing of Mr. Simmons as above. A letter of condolence will be sent to both his family and Liberty Hall.
Holly Hobart has been getting dating sequences on several historic structures in the Village, and Bob Frazee notes the Burgess House is now dated back to 1811.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45.
